Comments:
After graduating BVHS, I attended University of Illinois '84-'88 (didn't graduate - dropped out - twice.) where I competed for the gymnastics team '84-'86. They won the NCAA Division 1 title in '88. After I quit. I was holding them back! Mary and I met (love at first sight!) in '88, moved to Ohio when she graduated from U of I as an Industrial Engineer. She was hired by Honda in Marysville. We got married in '89. I coached gymnastics for a short time, and then worked construction for ~3 years. I grew tired of that (literally – it’s hard work!) and enrolled at OSU in '91 to (finally!) earn a Mechanical Engineering degree.
Samantha was born in '93, a year before Mary started her Master's Degree program at OSU in Material Science Engineering, which she earned in ’96, at Honda’s expense, while she earned her full salary. What a deal! But those few years were challenging in many ways. After I graduated in ‘95, without dropping out, I worked ~9 months at Techneglas in Columbus as a process engineer, traveling to South Korea a couple times to assist in equipment installations. Then I was fired because I refused to travel so much. It was a real strain on the family. Traveling, that is. I was fortunate to land another mechanical engineering position quickly in Columbus – this time at Rimrock Corp. I worked there for 10 years designing automation equipment for metal forming industries. Fun! Andrea was born in ’98. I now work at Mettler-Toledo as a project engineer at a facility that fabricates truck, rail, and industrial scales. After 19 years as an engineer at Honda and another intense ~18 months at OSU for a Master’s Degree in Education, Mary is now teaching high school physics and physical science. Today (8-26-09) was her first day, and our 20th wedding anniversary! Samantha is a Junior, and Andrea is in 6th grade. They are both doing well in school and involved in sports – Sam is running cross country, and Andrea is playing club soccer. Samantha just had an emergency appendectomy last night. She’s home and recovering very well.
Well, that brings it all up to date! Oh - one more thing - I was born again (no, I mean, like, really!) in ’96, and haven’t been the same person since! If anyone is interested in learning about that, let me know – as much as I enjoy talking about myself and my family, I enjoy talking about Jesus even more!
